The Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) is now accepting applications for the 14th cohort of It's flagship programme, the Executive Master’s in Managing Peace and Security in Africa (MPSA) commencing 7th October 2018.

The Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) is now accepting applications for the 1st cohort of It's flagship programme, the Executive Short Courses


Admission requirements

Paper applications are not accepted. Applications should be submitted online through http://www.ipss-addis.org/portal/. The application process comprises both academic and non-academic requirements.

 

Academic requirements

  1. Higher diploma, Bachelor’s or Post-graduate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.

 

Non-academic requirements

The applicant must preferably:

  1. Be a citizen of a member state of the African Union and/or an international applicant working for a governmental, inter-governmental or multilateral agency with a keen interest in African peace and security issues;
  2. Have at least five years’ work experience in peace, security and development, democracy, governance, peace and security or related field;
  3. Have an excellent command of the English language, the medium of instruction.

The Selection Committee will also take into account the following factors:

  1. Applicant’s past and current job, position/responsibilities; including perceived professional impact applicant is likely to have on their organization after completion of the short course;
  2. Diversity (gender, regional balance) in order to draw participants from all parts of the continent;
  3. Applicant’s personal qualities: leadership/learning abilities, motivation, originality, etc.

Cost and application deadline

Advanced Certificate on Peacebuilding in Africa

850 USD per session x 3 = 2,550 USD

Deadline: 11 July 2018

 

Mitigating the Adverse Effects of Migration in IGAD-Member Countries

2,700 USD per session x 2 sessions = 5,400 USD

Deadline: 10 August 2018

 

Security Sector Governance in Africa

1,250 USD per session x 2 sessions = 2,500 USD

Deadline: 10 August 2018

 

Contemporary Governance in Africa

2,000 USD + 150 USD registration fees

Deadline: 30 August 2018


Note that payment does not include travel, visa and accommodation costs. It only covers the course fee, and two tea breaks and lunch per session.
